Lexie Jane O'Connor
Forty-five, lovable, bubbly, sarcastic, caring, free-spirited
Lexie had more or less a normal childhood in Cambria bay, where she was born, raised and has lived ever since, she finished high school top of her class despite being one of the popular girls who were stereotyped as airheads back then just as they are still being stereotyped today. She dated a lot during high school and university, some of the relationships got very serious, but she didn’t get married until after she graduated university where she majored in psychology and had minored is sociology at the age of twenty-two. She married pretty young yes, but she was head over heels in love with Edmond, whom she met at the university who was studying to become a doctor. While working towards her PhD in psychology, which she did part-time, Lexie worked as the guidance counselor at the high school, a job she was able to get at age of twenty-four and without experience because they were pretty much desperate after the death of the previous counselor, William Beckett, who died of a heart attack the age of seventy. The children of the school didn’t seem to be too sad about his death though, actually the seemed relieved having someone a little younger to go talk to.
The life plan she had didn't really involve being the guidance counselor at Cabria bay High School forever, she actually wanted to become a psychologist, which she eventually got qualified for, but she ended up falling in love with her job and staying on although she was pretty much overqualified for it. After eight years of marriage and at the young age of five Lexie’s husband was diagnosed with brain cancer, it was inoperable and none of the treatments they tried put him into remission, he got very sick but Lexie asked for time off from work to take care of him, some time turned out to be two years before he died. Lexie was crushed, but she was strong and she pushed through, she even got her job back at the high school a year later after a three year break and a few years later she got her PhD.
Lexie loves children, but as fate should have it she was never able to conceive, she thought about adopting but never did and knows she’d have to do it soon or else she might be too old. She’s carries her age well though and except for her infertility she’s one hundred percent healthy, she just wants to be a mother to a child not a grand-mother, she’s now considering adopting a grown child, she does a lot of charity work with children’s homes where she offers free therapy and knows there are a lot of non-infants that could be adopted. It took five years after her husband’s death before Lexie started dating again, she has made a lot of friend but she never ‘clicked’ with any of them. She is now forty-five, single and over-all a happy person, she does get lonely from time to time but fortunately she has a lot of friends and a very social job, which keeps her sane.
----------
Friends:
Lexie should have a lot of these, she's a very outgoing, free-spirited and over-all likeable person who has the gift for crawling into people's heart pretty quickly. A few of these friends might even be much younger than her, maybe someone she came across in her job at the high school or something in that line. She doesn't see age as a reason not to be friends with someone, but she tends to stay away from high school boys to avoid false rumors being spread about her, she's definitely not a cougar. Being the very caring person that she is, she'd go out of her way to help someone and has no trouble reading in between the lines, since she practically spent the majority of her life studying human behaviour, she's not the type that'll push you to talk about anything, but she will be there if you need to that's for sure.
Enemies:
Mmmh, I'm not sure why but there might be one or two of these, if you can come up with a good back story, by all means. Lexie is not at all aggressive and tends to try and settle an argument verbally, she is very protective over her friends so if you threaten their happiness she's bound to get in your face about it.
Romance:
Lexie is a very attentive, loving and caring person so there's no reason why someone wouldn't fall in love with her, she's open to the possibility of a future relationship but she's not out looking for one, she dates and has fun, she believes if there's someone else out there meant for her, they'll find each other eventually. She does have a tendency to be a motor-mouth which is a little inconvenient in her line of work and can be a turn-off for some, she likes telling stories and keeping the conversation going, which means that sometimes she'll say some very silly just for the sake of saying something.
